The ICA is excited to host the official UK book launch of Tending Grief: Embodied Rituals for Holding Our Sorrow and Growing Cultures of Care in Community. To celebrate the release, author Camille Barton will be in conversation with Aisha Mirza (founder of misery) and Zachi Brewster (of Dopo) to explore the importance of grief tending in today's world and how this practice can support the development of peer support networks.
The discussion will expand on themes covered in Aisha and Zachi’s interviews from the book, including QTIPOC collective healing and reproductive justice, while weaving in practical examples from the work of both misery and Dopo within the UK context.
The event will begin with an optional somatic grounding practice, followed by a moment to honor Sobonfu Somé and Nkem Ndefo. Their pioneering work in grief rituals and somatics, respectively, has been instrumental to the development of Tending Grief and Camille’s broader practice.
Copies of Tending Grief will be available for purchase, and Camille will be signing books briefly after the event.
