ICA Creatives x Pesolife
Institute of Contemporary Arts

ICA Creatives is our core youth program, offering free artist-led creative workshops for people aged 16-30. The 2024/2025 edition of ICA Creatives will take a multidisciplinary, genre-fluid approach to creativity in collaboration with the Pesolife Collective. Using the ICA as a resource and the urban environment as inspiration, the program will support young people in learning various ways of making, gathering, and producing to engage with photographic, sound, and film-focused audio-visual practices.

The program will run in three terms, each led by a different artist from the collective and comprising five workshops. Using the ICA’s studio as a site-specific location, sessions are oriented towards creating audio-visual art pieces, with a special focus on helping young people develop projects reflecting their experiences of contemporary culture. Materials such as photographs, soundscapes, and films developed during the terms will be collectively shared and repurposed in each term, allowing them to be combined into audio-visual essays.

There is an opportunity for all participants from each term to come together and showcase their collective work made during the workshops to the public in a building-wide takeover of the ICA in August 2025.

ICA’s mission is to future-proof the creative industries for generations to come through inclusive pathways and progression routes. The aim of this program is to support emerging talent and creativity, enabling young people to become part of the ICA’s community and gain access to the wider artistic program, including exhibitions, live music, cinema, and more. There are opportunities to meet industry professionals and get behind the scenes of a world-class interdisciplinary arts organization.

The Pesolife Collective is comprised of three main collaborators, Secaina Hudson, Kalina Blaize and Nathaniel Télémaque who work together and independently to create and produce various audio-visual works, such as E.Ps, photobooks, short films, soundscapes, beat productions and songwriting. As a collective Pesolife is committed to substantively developing and sharing their audio-visual practices with their creative peers, visual arts and educational organisations as well local and global community groups
