Another Man and the ICA present a special screening of Ira Sachs’ Peter Hujar’s Day, an intimate recreation of a day in the life of the cult New York artist and photographer, whose work traced the city’s queer and underground creative communities in dazzling detail through the 1970s and 80s.

The film is based on the typescript of an encounter in December 1974 between Hujar and author Linda Rosenkrantz, whose conversation explored the artist’s anxieties, lusts and ambitions, with fascinating thoughts on fellow luminaries such as William Burroughs, Susan Sontag and Fran Lebowitz.

Following the screening, the celebrated American critic Vince Aletti and artist Gary Schneider will take part in a conversation chaired by Hujar's biographer John Douglas Millar about the life and impact of one America’s most iconic and subversive artists. At Raven Row Gallery in 2025, Millar co-curated the exhibition Peter Hujar: Eyes Open in the Dark with Schneider, with assistance from the gallery’s director, Alex Sainsbury.
